Update and Revised Target

I started this blog keeping in mind my Triathlon Journey. No post for last months, so what was I doing and what is my current fitness level? What is the time I am targetting for my first Olympic distance triathlon?

September was a mixed month, I practiced a bit and rested a bit. Not much gain in my swimming stamina at all. Fast forward one month, there came October. My parents visited me for a couple of days. Then there was the office for few days and heavy rain too. So, no training at all.

Then there came big Diwali and I went home. Boy, that was one hell of a vacation. Sweets and ice cream day in and day out. I just ran for one day. I enjoyed my 10+ hours of sleep. But at the same time, I did a lot of fitness shopping. New swimming shorts, resistance band, cycling gloves and other items. I was determined to start my practice on 1st November and also I was determined to go on semi-vegan diet.

Why 1st November? I was back to Chennai on 23rd October from Mumbai, then why I choose 1st November? I had to go to Malaysia for a fun trip, my first international trip and I was supposed to be back on 31st October. Few lines on Malaysia trip - I saw many supercars over there, the ones which I had only dreamt off. Plus - two Lamborghini's too as bonus caught my eye. I visited Langkawi and traveled from east to west, north to south. What is so special about Langkawi - they organise Ironman competition and I got a taste of what to expect when I participate in that event.

Why Semi-Vegan - It is difficult to find vegan food when going out for a movie on weekends and other occasions. I stopped taking milk with tea and coffee. I was open to eating paneer, cheese, and related stuff when I go out. Also, I cannot afford to miss the Starbucks coffee while visiting Phoenix.

Okay, so here comes November 1st, I don't wake up early for like 10 days. I bought some dark chocolates from Malaysia and so that meant no vegan diet for almost a week. I just couldn't say no to dark chocolates at all. Winter came up and it became difficult to wake up. Initially, I used to reach office by 8 am, nowadays I wake up at 8 am.

In a nutshell, my last two months effort (no exercise) helped me to reach 75 kgs. I was less than 72 kgs two months back. It is easily noticeable that I have gained weight. What do all these mean is that triathlon is out of the way. I order to get me started again, I had to come up with new targets. Last week I registered for Mumbai marathon (yet to receive confirmation) and my new task is related to it.

Almost 60 days to go for the marathon. My first marathon (2015) was 5 hours 15 mins. I managed first 21 km in about 2 hours 15 mins and then I started walking and running. So in all, it took me 5 hours 15 mins. Last year, I managed to finish my marathon in just under 5 hours. I won't be forgetting that run for a long time, it was done on sheer mental strength. I managed to run non-stop for 32 km and then I had to walk and run.

As always, I am not in good form to enter the competition but I want to change that. I have 2 months in front of me and I have never completed a half marathon in less than 2 hours. I am setting a bit unrealistic target for myself, sub 4-hour marathon. Wish me Luck, since it won't be possible without your efforts.

Hope to see you all cheering me on the way to glory and also waiting for a warm hug at the finish line.
